Press bill

Okay, I confess I don't know what a press bill is.

That's a yes from me. Sounds like a deduction for advertising or office supplies. On second thought I may not know what a press bill is.

That's so funny, must be a regional thing to call the newspaper "the Press"! I never know that!

Newspaper deduction

I would not try to deduct a local newspaper as a business expense, despite the fact that you use it for coupons, etc. This is because it's primarily personal use and I've not had luck deducting it in IRS audits. I wouldn't even try to deduct part of the cost because the IRS will likely consider it too personal in nature.

Could you maybe deduct it if you the subscription comes in your business name? Also, I was told it was ok to deduct since I use it to find out the names of the new borns from our hospital and I send them a card of congratulations from my daycare.

Now I'm wondering if I need to be concerned about that deduction.

newspaper deduction

I understand why you would think you could deduct the newspaper. I'm saying that in my experience with IRS audits, I think it would be a tough sell to get it accepted as a deduction.
