Payment Reminder Slips?

Do you give your parents weekly/monthly/whatever your payment schedule is reminder slips the day before payment is due? I'm not sure if I should do this or not. Part of me wants to to help ensure I get paid timely, and yet I don't want to hold their hands along the way and get the parents used to me reminding them for everything. Thoughts?

I don't. The parents sign a parent/provider agreement which has their work schedule and pay schedule and give them a copy of that. I think it is up to them to remember. If they are late paying, charge them a late fee. "I forgot" is not a good excuse. We can't do that with our bills.

Besides if you are just "out of the nest" you know when your bills are due. I know that I have 6 bills that have to go out each month. About twice a year something gets lost in the mail. Just because I didn't get the morgage statement doesn't mean it isn't due. My responsibility, if I don't pay, the next statement has a 50 dollar late fee. They aren't going to care if I didn't get it. When I needed daycare for my daughter that was my first and upmost important bill. Unfortunally I meet people that don't. If you don't pay daycare you don't have a job/school to pay for the rest of your bills.

I wouldn't send out reminders. If you get swamped or something happens where you aren't able to hand them out, they might think they don't owe you. I have heard of some providers doing this when they have families that owe diffenent amounts every week. I charge by the hour and don't do this. Friday comes, they walk in the door, I tell them the amount, they pull out the cash, I give change and a reciept.

I think enforcing your late payment fee's and "no pay-no stay" policy should work quite well. :)

If you cave once, though, you are hosed. :(

Okay, then I won't. it seems like a lot of work to do that each week anyways. I think i will only give them a reminder slip when they are charged late fee or something different than what they normally owe.

All but 2 of my families pay monthly. They chose the date and it's always the same day each month. They don't pay, they get late fees just like everyone else.

I don't have time to do payment reminders. They should know when ALL of their bills are due...including daycare. :)
