In Minnesota, Getting an EIN...

I am going to apply for an EIN with the IRS... the IRS Website says "You must check with your state to make sure you need a state number or charter" What does it mean and does this apply in Minnesota??

Thanks!!

I have no idea what those are.... I have an EIN and have used it for years now with no issues so my guess is our state doesn't require a state number or a charter.

Thanks!

Another quick question... It asks for my start date... can I use my original start date in 1995??
