Your post made me realize that I remind parents repeatedly, which I suppose is why I never really have an issue. Here is where they know about pre-planned closures:
- Signed contract
- Newsletter emailed at the beginning of the month
- Menu calendar on my website
- My monthly email (sent with the newsletter attached) to the parents reminds about upcoming closures
- A separate email sent out a few months in advance telling parents my plans for upcoming closures
- An email a week in advance telling the parents what the fees will be for the week with the closures and when to drop off payment(s)
- In person the last time I see them prior to the closure
