Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Symptoms For Exclusion. What Temp Fever?

What symptoms are grounds for exclusion from daycare? What temp for fever?

Do you do a wellness check at drop-off? If child seems feverish, do you take their temp? What # is too high for daycare?

our daycare excludes at 100.1 and up. if it's 99.6-ish, I keep a child home cause it will probably go up anyway.

Wellness check at every drop off. Usually, a child will display other symptoms along with a fever, however, my policy is anything over 100.0

For under 1 anything over 99.5, over 1 anything over 100.

I do a check each morning. Ask how they slept, etc. I send home is fever is 100 or above.

No fever at all, not even slight. A slight fever of 37.3C still means a child is not well enough to be here.

Mine is 101 F but thinking of lowering it to 100F instead.

some kids do run hot on a normal day to day basis. I had a kid that always ran at 99.9, was healthy as a horse too. ( I dont' even know what that saying means lol)

BUT most kids do not. I always look for another symptom and if I see anything out of the ordinary along side 100.0 they go home.

My guideline for fever is 100. I have kept kids here with temps over 100, and I have sent them home with temps under. I also use their symptoms as a guide-a kid who has a temp of 99 and can't manage to stay sitting upright is still a kid who needs to be home. I have a kid whose temp is over 100 MOST days, but he has trouble regulating body temp (micro preemie), and I look for symptoms with him that tell me he is ill.
