I am moving into a house next month (rented) and it is big enough to start and in-home daycare. I've been wanting to do this for a couple years. I have a few questions. I'm in Iowa so any specifics would be nice!

What are the start up costs? I've looked at a few things on the DHS website and here and I think I'm in way over my head financially. I was thinking I would spend a couple hundred tops. I have everything child so just registration, training, etc.

Do you pay for insurance every month or once a year? What are the rates like?

Does my landlord need special insurance on the house?

Do I have to have an outside play space? There's a park a few blocks away I had planned to take the kids to when possible but I read an article that made it seem like I had to have outdoor space. The house is on a busy road and there is no fence so outdoor play at the house isn't an option.

Thanks!!
