Question 4 Month Old Taking 40 Minute Naps!! Need Suggestions

So I am doing a favor for a couple to watch their 4 month old just for this week. They are interested in switching her to my daycare but I am due soon in October and I want to see how that is before I take a new infant....but If I can get her to sleep I might consider it!

So far she has only taken 3 , 40 minute naps!

What I have tried...

Sleep on back
Sleep on stomach
Swaddled
Swaddled with pacifier
Swaddled with pacifier and white noise

She is definitely warm enough
Her diaper is clean
She is fed (breast milk)

Her father told me that the other daycare (which she has been at for 3 weeks) sleeps her on her stomach....I was iffy about trying it, but when I did it still was only 4o minutes. (I had them sign a sleep waiver, I am well aware of SIDS, my son was a stomach sleeper as well...please I don't need read not to do back sleep)

So any magic trips up any of your sleeves??

4 month olds can still be pretty disorganized. 3 40 minute naps are not unusual.

The only thing you can do is set up the environment...quiet, white noise, dark..and then if she wakes, wait a few minutes before going in. She may go back to sleep.

If you have her only this week, now is not the time to do anything but just go with the flow. You can't really affect her sleep patterns in 3 days.

Yah I guess I have been spoiled with my first daycare girl, I got her at 4 months exactly one year ago and she was great, she would play on the floor...take good naps, drink all of her milk....but this one, needs constant holding and entertainment....the parents made her seem like a breeze lol...and I am wondering If the other daycare is being honest about her schedule??

well you are a new person and a new place. its not odd at all that she is struggling more for you. perhaps her old provider carried or wore her during naps and maybe that was why the naps were longer. or maybe they held her a lot and that is why she seemed happier there.

I have a 4 month old right now that supposedly cried all day every day at her old daycare, she is a breeze for me. you just never know.

She might just need to get used to the new place.
If you are allowed to, I would try a cradle swing.
