As some of you may know, I am moving in less than 60 days cross country to Grand Forks Air Force Base. I have not let my current DCM know yet as we need the money (and then some!!) For moving preparations, etc. If she pulls DCB say, next month we will be in very hot water! But, she needs notice to find childcare. I don't think she will pull him but I am not 100%.
Not only that, but unless DH passes his physical training test on October 2nd, we arent going anywhere. He failed it a week or more ago by 4 seconds on the run!!!! He is so mad and they are making him do mandatory PT until October 2nd when he retests and if he doesnt pass they said they will cancel our orders. So are on a total stand still right now.. If he does pass on October 2nd his final out will be on October 15th and then he will be out processed from this base. Our stuff will probably be all packed up and I will be heading off on a plane with DS bound for Minnesota while DH and his brother and dad drive cross country to grand forks. So this time frame leaves little wiggle room

At this point, I would not say anything and shoot for a two week to one month notice. I certainly wouldnt give a 60 day notice when you dont even know if you are actually moving or not. |

I wouldn't give notice until you were sure you were leaving. Ideally you want to give a 30 day notice because you'll be packing and wanting to get everything ready, BUT mom will pull him as soon as she finds acceptable care. It's what any mom would do. Also, I know you need the money, have you filed for a travel advance? I used to be a disbursing clerk for PCS travel with the Dept of the Navy. I know it's not the same but the dod regs are similar. PM me if you need information regarding advances and PCS moves! If you get a travel adv you don't need to pay it back. And are you doing a dity move? You can get an adv for that as well.

When I got my job at the center at my church that just opened, I actually was offered the job in January but was scheduled to start in April. I gave my families about a 1 month notice of the last day I would provide care so that they would have time to find alternate care. Of the 3 families I had at the time, one found care at a center and so only stayed with me for 2 weeks of the month. The other 2 families stayed until my closing date. Of course, they were going to my best friend's home for care. They may have left earlier if she hadn't taken them at my reccomendation. So really no definite way to know how long families will stay after you give notice, so I would give no more than a month notice but at least 2 weeks.
