Has anyone made one and if so are they hard to make?
Can you order them online?
Which would be better-ordering or making.
Also, where do you get all the see through color toys to put on them?
Thanks for any help. Just saw one on a facebook page-add to my list of things to get!

Where on fb please? I'm going to build one and want to see lots of ideas first. Thanks.
We have a "ghetto"
light table. Xmas lights in my Ikea trofast (it's a white frosted bucket basically) storage container. I have a bunch of overhead pattern blocks like
these i found at goodwill actually for .99! I also have ones kinda like
these and transparent blocks. we've also used sand. I have a friend who uses
these and these neat magna tiles (or something like that) but she has a great
light table and a pretty endless budget so I haven't invested in the tiles yet.
I'm in the process of making my own, just looking for an old coffee table or end table. My hubby thinks one with a glass top would be best so we can replace the glass with white plexiglass and then he'll wire some lights together. I've been hitting thrift stores to find something that will work.

I've been meaning to make one for months. I couldn't find ANY Christmas lights for a reasonable price after Christmas, and plus I'm leaving that job anyway. I may make one for my new job, but ill probably hold off til my daycare opens.
I bought these tiny see through plastic cars and animals from Dollar Tree, and we have a couple "bead and rock" shops where you can buy those agate things for a lot cheaper.

I think
light tables are a grand idea, but I wanted to make sure the kids liked it first before I got something big and bulky. I pulled out my husband's old Art Tracer from an art class he took in college and let them play with it. We put our Magna Tiles on them, water beads, and X-rays (not all at the same time
). The kids are semi-interested in the
light but prefer to just play with what I give them for the top instead. These kids are silly...they take everything off of the "
light table" and put it on the floor or preschool table instead. Needless to say, we will stick with the little Art Tracer for awhile instead of something bigger.

Aww shucks.
Thanks Blackcat.
I have purchased a ton of stuff from different catalogs to use on the
light table, but I have also found a lot at the $ store.
Anything that is translucent works really well.
You can melt translucent solo cups in the oven and they make neat "disks".
I even bought translucent page dividers that you would use in a 3 ring binder from the $ store and cut them in to shapes. Cheap and they work!
