WASHINGTON DAYCARE CENTER FAMILY ORIENTATION
To become a licensed child care provider in Washington, you must attend a Department of Early Learning (DEL) licensing orientation session. A DEL licensor will share information and will be available for you to ask questions. Sessions are available in English, Spanish and Somali. For those interested in becoming family home providers, there is an additional step before attending an orientation. Read and fill out an orientation survey in English, Spanish or Russian to determine if becoming a family home provider is the best choice for you and your family at this time. After completing the survey, bring or mail it to your local DEL office. Click here for mailing addresses. Your returned survey is treated as a "first come, first served" placeholder for future orientations. You will be contacted by your local DEL office once you have been scheduled for an orientation class. Currently, with the exception of those needing Spanish or Somali only orientations, those interested in becoming a family home provider will attend orientation at the DEL office that serves the individual’s home address. Orientations may be full, and DEL offices use waiting lists for vacancies and future orientations.
